Microneedling
Also called skin needling, derma rolling, face needling, microneedling facial, vampire facial, collagen induction therapy (CIT), and percutaneous collagen induction (PCI)
What is it?
Micro‐needling is aimed at stimulating the body’s own collagen production to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, stretch marks, skin laxity and scarring. It has also been successfully used for hair restoration in cases of alopecia. A microneedling pen (with tiny needles) is used to create micro-channels on the skin which will induce healing and the production of collagen and growth factors to improve the appearance and smoothness of the skin. Unlike dermaroller which can create shallow but bigger tears, a dermapen will create tiny vertical microchannels with a controlled depth for the type of skin and condition.
What is it good for?
Microneedling is used to treat and improve conditions like:
-acne scars
-fine lines
-wrinkles
-loose skin
-skin texture
-uneven skin tone
-large pore size
-brown spots
-stretch marks
-pigment issues
-hair loss
Does it hurt?
A topical numbing cream is applied for about 30 minutes. You will feel slight pressure but not pain.
When will I see results?
Approximately 48 to 72 hours after the treatment you'll have an increase in collagen production. It takes at least four weeks to see noticeable results though. The new collagen will last for several years, which is why micro needling treatment is considered a very long lasting treatment.
Will I need to take time off from work?
It will look and feel like a mild to moderate sunburn and your skin will appear red after you've had microneedling. The redness should subside within 24 hours. However, if you have sensitive skin or a more aggressive treatment was done, the redness may take a couple of days to subside. Some dryness and flaking is also expected.
Can I just use a roller at home?
The sloped, or curved, insertion of needles on a rolling device can create damaging trenches in the epidermis leading to more bleeding, pain and longer recovery time. The vertical needling minimizes pain and bleeding, and offers a safe, consistent treatment method that better rejuvenates the skin.
How much does it cost?
Treatments can cost up to hundreds of dollar. We currently offer an affordable add-on service for current clients of $30 to the essential treatment facial. There's no additional cost for it during the Deluxe Treatment.
How many treatments do I need?
For collagen induction it is recommend to start with 3 treatments, 3 to 6 weeks apart. For scar reduction an average of 3 to 6 treatments are recommended. In some cases, alternating microneedling with peels will lead to the best results.
